I recently had the opportunity to visit the factory of Newcom, a well-known brand under the Sampsonite Group. It’s no surprise that their bags can cost thousands!
The factory is quite extensive, with production bases in Cambodia, Hunan, Guizhou, Lianyungang, and Jiaxing. They don’t just source raw materials; they also manufacture all their components in-house.
We were greeted by Mr. Zhao, who oversees e-commerce. Newcom is focusing on expanding its domestic market and has invested significantly in launching its own brand. They’ve signed contracts with CK and even opened stores in Yintai. Plus, they are supplying bags for the Hangzhou Asian Games!
First, we visited the showroom, which showcased a wide variety of bags and suitcases. Mr. Zhao mentioned that they invest heavily in researching new materials each year. I was particularly intrigued by a mommy bag that features an ozone sterilization function—definitely something not many smaller factories offer!
The craftsmanship in these bags is top-notch. I picked up a few pieces and was immediately struck by the quality of the materials and components; they truly feel premium.
On the production line, I observed some fascinating manufacturing processes. I especially liked an ultra-light suitcase that I could lift with just my pinky finger—I'm tempted to get one for myself!
Mr. Zhao shared that they’ve sold over a million units of a particular style for the foreign brand IT, and it hasn’t changed in ten years. Classic designs really do stand the test of time!
I’m not an expert in bags, so I’ve scheduled another visit for a training session with Mr. Zhao to learn more about selecting styles.
What do you think? Which style do you find most appealing? Let me know so I can narrow down my options!
